"summary": "**Course Overview**\n\nOur MSc Psychology of Mental Health will give you practical mental health knowledge to support coworkers, service users, and employees.\n\nThis course helps you to make a real impact in your current organisation, sector, or community, and isn't just for those pursuing a career change. It's ideal for helping you to enhance your employability in the following sectors without retraining as a clinician:\n\n\n- Emergency services\n\n\n- Healthcare\n\n\n- Education\n\n\n- Human resources\n\n\n- Community roles\n\n\nThe modules are built from the experiences of frontline professionals and those with lived experience of mental health challenges. So you can feel confident in your ability to lead or advocate for change in mental health support.\n\nThe course is taught one day per week, on-campus, in block format. Block learning is ideal for working professionals and international students looking for an in-person learning style.\n\nUnlike many MSc Mental Health programmes, you can apply to this course with any prior degree.\n\n**Why study with us**\n\n\n- Gain workplace and community focused mental health training which develops relevant psychological knowledge to boost your employability.\n\n\n- Ideal for busy working professionals, your learning is condensed and flexible with only one day a week on-campus.\n\n\n- This course offers in-person applied training in community and workplace mental health to non-psychologists.\n\n\n**What you'll do**\n\n\n- Engage with complex ethical issues in mental health support, preparing you to make confident, ethical decisions in real-world scenarios.\n\n\n- Learn how to apply psychology in the real world and boost your employability by completing a workplace-based research project and targeted micro-credentials.\n\n\n- Gain practical skills in planning, delivering, and evaluating workplace-based wellbeing programs.\n\n\n**Future Careers**\n\nThis course will prepare you for progression within your current role and career development. It will teach you to recognise common mental health difficulties in yourself and others. Including, how to: support colleagues and service users more confidently, contribute to wellbeing initiatives, and apply trauma-informed and resilience-focused approaches across a range of sectors.\n\nSome roles you could pursue include:\n\n\n- Mental health and wellbeing roles in schools, colleges, and universities\n\n\n- Support, advocacy, and community outreach roles in the charity and voluntary sector\n\n\n- Wellbeing, inclusion, and people-support roles within HR and organisational development\n\n\n- Roles supporting emergency service staff wellbeing and resilience\n\n\n- Health promotion and public mental health roles\n\n\n- Community support and housing roles\n\n\n- Criminal justice, probation, or third-sector support roles\n\n\nSome graduates may choose to pursue further study or training, such as:\n\n\n- PGCert/PGDip training programmes in specific therapeutic approaches \n\n\n- PhD or research assistant roles (subject to meeting entry requirements)\n\n\n- Additional qualifications for specialist wellbeing or support roles\n\n\nYou could also qualify for non-clinical roles within NHS mental health services such as support worker or assistant roles, but further training is required for professional practice.\n\nThis MSc is designed for professionals who want to deepen their understanding of mental health and apply evidence-based psychological principles in their workplace. It does not qualify graduates to practise as clinical psychologists or other regulated mental health professions, but it provides valuable skills that can enhance existing roles and open up new opportunities in settings where mental health awareness and support skills are increasingly valued.
