"entryRequirements": "Applications for direct entry by holders of the UIAA/ICAR/ISMM International Diploma in Mountain Medicine to the MSc year of the programme will be accepted until the beginning of each academic year.\n\nApplicants will be registered with one of the nine UK Health and Care Regulatory Bodies, (GMC, HCPC, NMC, GDC etc.). Applications will also be considered from final year healthcare students who will complete the course after they are fully registered. Overseas applicants will hold registration with their national equivalent Health and Care Regulatory Bodies. Due to the clinical nature of the course, we regret that we cannot accept applications from applicants who do not fulfil this requirement.\n\nApplicants would normally hold a British honours degree (class 2:2 class or above) or equivalent or provide evidence of the ability to study at master's level.\n\nSufficient competency in English language (IELTS Academic module 6.5. is required. Please note that the University of Lancashire accepts IELTS Academic and IELTS UKVI but does not accept IELTS General.",

"summary": "**Our Mountain Medicine MSc/PGDip programme is dually accredited. You'll gain the theoretical and practical knowledge to treat illnesses and diseases in remote, high-altitude settings. Upon completion, you will be awarded the prestigious UIAA/ICAR/ISMM International Diploma in Mountain Medicine.**\n\nThis course is for registered healthcare practitioners interested in expedition, travel, remote, rescue and high-altitude medicine. The programme combines practical skills and theory, both in medicine and mountaineering. You'll gain the skills and confidence needed to operate in mountain environments. Difficult terrain, high altitudes and harsh weather can quickly lead to life-threatening situations. As well as presenting unique challenges in locating and treating casualties and saving lives.\n\nOur teaching staff include some of the most eminent figures in high-altitude medicine, top mountain guides and others at the forefront of mountain rescue.\n\nThe Postgraduate Diploma course takes place as four modules. Each module starts with preparation materials online in our virtual learning environment to develop your knowledge. This will prepare you to get the most out of the four highly practical lecture blocks. These are week-long blocks that blend together mountaineering and clinical skills development. The blocks are delivered in the following locations:\n\n**Coniston in the English Lake District**\n**The Welsh National Outdoor Centre at Plas y Brenin**\n**Fort William on Scotland's West Coast**\n**Culminating with a week in Arolla in the Swiss Alps**\n\nDelivery is a combination of practical sessions in small groups. Much of this is on the mountainside, accompanied by lectures from subject experts and small group tutorials. This will be supported by online content including discussion forums, quizzes and pre-module reading. ",
