"modules": "- Critical Pedagogies\nThis module will help you develop your theoretical knowledge and ability to critically analyse pedagogy (teaching and learning) within physical education, school sport and education settings more broadly. You will critically discuss and apply theories to help deepen your understanding of teaching and learning. You will consider the social, cultural, and ethical issues that impact teaching and learning, and challenge your thinking to develop strategies to engage young people in new and innovative ways.\n\n- Policy in Practice\nThis module will help you consider a range of policy considerations relating to your own career pathway. Policy is a controversial area that constantly changes, and has become increasingly influential for those working within the education, sport and physical activity sector. You will have the opportunity to synthesise how policy is developed and engage in discussion and debate across a range of topical policy issues. You will be challenged to explore your existing ideas and actively seek new knowledge in order to develop your critical appreciation of how policy impacts practice.\n\n- Research Methods in Sport\nThis module will help you develop the skills needed to plan and undertake research within your chosen career path. You will be supported to select an area of professional interest to you and design a research paper around it. You will have the option of designing a traditional research paper or a reflective practitioner piece.\n\n- Research Paper\nThis module builds on the foundations established in Research Methods and supports you in the development of your chosen research project. You will engage with the key stages of the research process—including planning, ethical considerations, research design, analysis, and academic writing. Emphasis is placed on critically exploring the academic debates surrounding research practice and on shaping your work into a coherent, academically rigorous, and potentially publishable format.\n\n- Professional Practice in Physical Education\nThis module will help you consider and prepare the professional skills and reflective abilities needed to develop a career in physical education and school sport. You will explore and critically debate theoretical models and academic studies from a range of domains, and consider how you would apply them in your own professional practice.",

As a graduate from this programme you’ll be able to use research to confidently critique practice in physical education and youth sport, enhancing your practice.\nYou’ll be encouraged to reflect and consider the social, cultural and ethical issues that impact on policy and practice within physical education. Drawing on evidence from research you’ll be able to shape practice and develop strategies to engage young people in new and innovative ways.\nAs a master's student you’ll also study research methods and think about ways you can evaluate your own professional practice, as well as the practice of others. You will develop techniques to ‘research’ pupils or young people ensuring they have a voice.\nThe curriculum is underpinned by research informed teaching and the team are research active, having worked with young people in physical education roles and coaching.
