"entryRequirements": "Stage one entry\n\n2:1 honours degree\nOR\na degree with a minimum average of 75% (or GPA 2.75) on your transcript.\n\nNative English speaking applicants to have good degree-level knowledge of Chinese. When applying, please enclose any evidence you may have to support your second language proficiency qualification. We will also consider your application if you have lower or non-standard qualifications and at least two years' full-time experience as a translator or an interpreter.\n\nIf your first language is not English you need IELTS 7.0, with a minimum of 6.5 in speaking and writing and 6.0 in listening and reading. This qualification must be no more than two years old on starting the course. No other English language qualifications are accepted.\n\nPre-sessional English Language courses are not accepted as an alternative entry to this course.\n\nIf you meet the entry requirements for this stage one, you will be registered on the Translating and Interpreting MA. If you complete this stage, you will take one of the suitable stage two pathways. The choice of pathway is according to your academic results and your personal preferences.\n\nIf you leave the MA after successfully completing stage one, you will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Translating and Interpreting.\n\nStage two entry (advanced)\n\n2:1 honours degree \nOR\na degree with a minimum average of 80% (or GPA 3.0) on your transcript.\n\nYou must also have expert second-language knowledge.\n\nIf your first language is not English you need IELTS 7.5 with a minimum of 7.0 in all sub-sections. This qualification must be no more than two years old when you start the course. "summary": "The Translation Studies MA covers professional and academic training in English and Chinese languages. Translation Studies is an academically focused pathway of our MA Translating.\n\nThis MA in Translation Studies uses English and Chinese as working languages.\n\nThis course has two stages. Each stage lasts one year. You can either:\njoin the course at Stage 1 and follow the two-year course\nor join at Stage 2 and follow the one-year course (this depends on your previous qualifications and experience)\n\nStage 1 is made up of compulsory modules. You'll gain a thorough grounding in translation and interpreting skills and techniques.\n\nBy the end of Stage 2 you'll have gained substantial theoretical knowledge. You could use this as a basis for further academic study and research.\n\nIn Stage 2 you could also choose to follow another of our pathways if your interests or aspirations change:\nInterpreting\nTranslating and Interpreting\nTranslating\n\nWhat you'll learn\nThis course uses English and Chinese as working languages.\n\nThis course has two stages lasting one year each.
