"summary": "During this course students will acquire strong 2D and 3D technical skills and will become aware of the challenges currently facing this sector of the industry. The opportunity to work collaboratively with a company in order to research into and develop new processes and techniques that advance current practice will be a feature of the course. \n\n**What can you expect?**\n\nStudents will experiment with a range of digital and manufacturing technologies and techniques, materials and components in order to achieve their goals. Individual research, experimentation and analysis will be supported by a programme of workshops, lectures, team-working activities and industrial visits that will allow students to develop a comprehensive understanding of techniques applicable to their own research or advanced knowledge. \n\nAs well as developing conventional and creative pattern cutting techniques, students will become conversant with digital pattern technology and will explore digital pattern development through using 3D sampling software.\n\nThey will also be encouraged to set up work placements which provide the opportunity to further skills and knowledge and make valuable contacts within the industry. The Master’s project will give students the opportunity to research and develop an initiative that breaks new ground in the field of pattern and garment technology. This project will be supported by extensive documented research, experimentation and analysis before the final outcome is achieved.\n\nThis course is based at Mare Street in Hackney, east London. East London has been dubbed the centre of British fashion. It’s where the old meets the new, where the night comes to life, where you can eat almost anything you like and find some of the capital’s best shops. The London College of Fashion (LCF) Mare Street site is now renowned for housing our jewellery, MA Fashion Futures and tailoring courses, alongside LCF’s Centre for Fashion Enterprise.\n\n**About London College of Fashion**\n\nLondon College of Fashion, UAL, has been nurturing creative talent for over a century, offering courses in all things fashion. In design, we teach a combination of heritage and radical thinking. Craftsmanship and new technology. Engineering – and in-depth design research.
