"entryRequirements": "The programme will recruit graduates from across a range of disciplines, eg biological sciences, social sciences, health sciences, who have obtained a 2:1 classification in their degree. We will also consider those with a 2:2 classification in their degree who are able to provide wider contextual information of recent relevant experience or further study.\n\nNon-health related degrees and professional qualifications may be accepted but each application will be considered on its own merits.\n\nApplicants must also hold 5 GCSE grades 5-9 (or grades A*-C if assigned according to previous grading system), which include maths English language and a science (dual award is accepted).\n\nApplicants must present with a good understanding of the profession including an awareness of the procedures undertaken. Ideally a shadowing visit with a registered occupational therapist in their area of practice must be completed in support of the application. (This has been relaxed in the current COVID situation).\n\nThe selection procedure requires completion of a successful interview with an academic and clinical panel. The interview utilises the values-based recruitment (VBR) process and applicants will be expected to demonstrate the relevance of the NHS values and pertinent skills required within the radiographic role.\n\nMeeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee a place on the programme as competition is high. Candidates are encouraged to present with the strongest possible application.",

"summary": "This course provides you with all the knowledge and practical experience you will need to become a qualified Occupational Therapist and able to register with the HCPC. The programme offers a variety of practice placement opportunities which include extended part-time placements, role-emerging setting and an elective placement that can be take at home or overseas.\n\nThe programme incorporates the excellent grounding in biological and social sciences that our undergraduate programme is renowned for. Students will have the opportunity to undertake research to develop the evidence base of the profession as well as opportunities to learn alongside master’s students on our other Allied Healthcare programmes.\n\nOur graduates have an excellent employment rate and because of the strong relationships we have with our local practice partners, they are highly regarded by local employers.\n\n**Placements**\nIn year 1 you will undertake a part-time 12 week placement and an 8 week full-time placement. This will be a typical occupational therapy practice placement setting such as an acute or rehabilitation hospital ward or within the local community.\n\nIn year 2 you will undertaken a 6 week full-time placement in a role-emerging setting and an 8 week elective placement. The elective placement is an opportunity to experience a placement overseas, further afield within the UK or within local specialist healthcare settings.",
