"summary": "**Policing & Security Transformation**\n\nThe course aims to: \n\n\n1. Provide students the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the theories, practices and applications relevant to contemporary policing and security.\n2. Provide a curriculum which is informed by the research activities, subject specialism and industry standards, promoting breadth and depth of intellectual inquiry and debate.\n3. Enable students to critically reflect upon and understand the diverse debates and controversies in policing and security within the subject area of social sciences.\n4. Provide opportunities for students to engage in a process of scholarship and research that will include a critical awareness of current issues and challenges facing policing and security. \n5. Develop advanced systematic subject knowledge and understanding, and the contemporary postgraduate skills necessary for students to achieve their potential after graduation.\n\n\nOn successful completion of the course, students will be able to:\n\n\n1. Apply analytical policing and security concepts, theories and research in the context of current challenges.\n2. Thoroughly and expertly utilise a research-evidence base in order to critically assess contemporary policing and security theories, research and practice. \n3. Demonstrate an ability to work under one’s own initiative to gather, organise and deploy evidence, data and information with the use of secondary and some primary sources.\n4. Showcase the ability enhance and apply learning to their own professional career practice and associated challenges and develop effective problem solving.\n5. Demonstrate a systematic knowledge of data management in policing and security. \n6.
