"assessmentMethods": "Assessments will be inclusive, accessible and promote decolonisation and diversification to aid students’ critical thinking and awareness of how different perspectives on issues relating to diversity in ethnicity, culture and nationality can impact the real estate professional and real estate development. This will be achieved twofold. Firstly, through using case studies from across the globe to bring to the student’s attention the challenges facing real estate professional when working in different countries and cultures.\n\nSecondly, project choice will be available to students allowing them to choose where in the world they locate their projects which will encourage contributions from students with diverse backgrounds allowing them opportunities to draw upon, express and see the value in their different and varied personal experiences.\n\nPlacing an emphasis on real world and authentic assessment means that throughout the course students will be asked to demonstrate critical thinking and awareness of how different perspectives on issues relating to diversity in ethnicity, culture and nationality can impact the real estate profession. Assessment for the course is based primarily on coursework. In some modules tests are used to confirm knowledge and understanding of core concepts. In modules where enquiry-based learning is used, industry inspired scenarios will provide the vehicles for the coursework. Coursework is a mix of reports, essays, presentations, portfolios etc. \n\nFor the project module, the assessment is based on an individual piece of research or work-based project conducted by the student, culminating in the submission of a substantial piece of work. Assessment for this course will be developed in line with the new University tariff guidelines and policy.",

"summary": "Skilled quantity surveyors are in demand both in the UK and globally. At the London School of the Built Environment, we have designed a course which aims to produce highly skilled and valued quantity surveyors who are able to effectively add value to projects across the globe. As a student on our course, you will have the opportunity to engage in authentic learning and assessment on real world projects, working with established national and international organisations operating within the construction and real estate sector. You will have opportunities to visit live projects to experience first-hand the challenges, excitement, and opportunities a career in quantity surveying can offer. All this whilst studying in our vibrant campus within a 10-minute tube journey of the City and West End.\n\n**More about this course**\n\nThe aim of this course is to provide students with skills to enhance their employability and improve career progression. The structure of the course is such that it is suitable for both cognate graduates (whose first degree is related to surveying and construction) and non-cognate graduates (whose first degree is unrelated to surveying and construction). The first semester contains technology and management related modules which are a firm grounding for the second semester where this knowledge and understanding is applied to core quantity surveying skills, including a research project. The emphasis throughout the course is on strong core skills; sustainable and climate resilient construction; ensuring students are aware of emerging trends; and that they have the capacity to develop into curious, enthusiastic and rational thinking\nprofessionals.\n\nThe course provides a fast-track conversion for those with an unrelated first degree but an interest in construction, numeracy and problem solving, to obtain an accredited route into the industry. In addition, it is suitable for construction professionals working in industry who wish to specialise in quantity surveying and enhance their career prospects and employability. \n\nThis course sits well with our other PG courses, with shared modules and the opportunity for students from different disciplines to work on collaborative projects which are authentic and reflective of the cross disciplinary nature of our industry. Having a blend of quantity surveyors, construction project managers and real estate students in the school will allow us to create scenarios which will enhance the student experience including team working skills and understanding of what the workplace will bring them.",
