"summary": "**Please check the Sheffield Hallam University website for the latest information.** \n\n**Course summary**\n- Learn key managerial skills and knowledge required for a range of construction project management roles.\n\n\n- Develop insights and knowledge to plan, programme, procure, develop, and manage, both logistically and contractually a wide range of construction projects.\n\n\n- Understand industry dynamics and fundamental economic principles, critical thinking and analysis, in order to mange the context in which projects exist.\n\n\nThis is a fast-track conversion course for first degree holders from an unrelated disciplines and existing practitioners who want to become a Chartered Surveyors through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).\n\n**How you learn**\nAll our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.\n\nYou’ll benefit from a range of 'experiential' teaching, learning and reflective assessment techniques. The course has a hands-on focus – you’ll work frequently with other students on the Construction Project Management course and in the wider built environment disciplines.\n\nYou learn through\n\n\n- lectures and seminars\n\n\n- tutorials and dialogue\n\n\n- presentations\n\n\n- site visits\n\n\n- visiting speakers\n\n\n- projects\n\n\n- experiential learning and roleplay\n\n\n**Applied learning**\n**Work placements**\nThe work experience route involves a 12 month work placement. During your placement you improve your practical management skills and employability, gaining real experience in industry. \n\n**Live projects**\n\nYou’ll complete intensive study weeks which allow you to work on complex, professional briefs with other students – further building your professional experience. \n\n**Field trips**\n\nPreviously the international project has taken place in Canada, with assistance from international firms. You may also have the opportunity to study and work abroad and gain hands-on experience of the education environment – with the possibility of Erasmus funding being available to support costs for overseas study.\n\n**Networking opportunities**\n\nOur course content meets Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) requirements and also reflects our long-standing relationships with placement and graduate employers in the sector.",
