It combines a thorough grounding in core geoscience with advanced training in laboratory techniques, research methods and computational skills. In particular, the specialist modules studied in Years 3 and 4 will prepare you for careers in industry, consultancy, government or academia.\n\nIn your first year, you'll build a strong foundation in geological structures, Earth's major systems, and the history and evolution of life. You'll also develop essential digital skills, using software to analyse and visualise geological and geophysical data while learning the fundamentals of programming for geoscientists As the course progresses, you'll explore geoscience in greater depth, developing core fieldwork skills alongside advanced digital techniques such as geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing and 3D modelling. \n\nIn your third year, you'll have the flexibility to tailor your studies by choosing from a range of specialist modules while undertaking an independent research project. Your fourth year is designed to prepare you for professional practice or doctoral study.
