Through fieldwork, advanced analytical techniques and research-led teaching, you will investigate human–Earth interactions and environmental processes, building the expertise to progress to PhD study or careers in environmental consultancy, resource management and sustainable development.\nIn your first year, you will build a strong grounding in core geoscience, exploring Earth’s structure, systems and history, alongside developing key academic, field and data analysis skills, including interpreting and visualising geological information.\nAs you progress, you will focus on environmental geoscience topics such as human impacts on the environment, environmental analytical methods, and geoethics and environmental justice. You will also develop practical field skills and knowledge of rocks and Earth processes. In your third year, you will specialise further in environmental geoscience, applying advanced concepts to real-world challenges and completing an independent research project in your chosen area.\nYour fourth year is designed to advance your research skills, from critically evaluating scientific literature to designing and carrying out an independent study in applied geophysics.
