"suggest": "Fashion Storytelling: Fashion Cultures and Histories. University of the Arts London. Fashion. Art history",
"summary": "MA Fashion Storytelling, a new collaboration between London College of Fashion and the V&A, brings together two world-leading institutions for the research, study and curation of fashion. \n\nThrough specialist teaching and sustained engagement with the V&A collections, archives, exhibitions, and research culture, the course provides an intellectual framework for understanding the active role played by museum professionals, researchers and audiences in shaping fashion narratives. It positions storytelling as central to the study, communication and interpretation of fashion, dress and cultural history \n\nThe course has two pathways: Fashion Cultures and Histories equips you with high-level theoretical, historiographic and research skills for a diverse range of professional and academic contexts. Fashion Curation will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to thrive as a curator and cultural producer within the museum, cultural and commercial sectors. \n\nFashion Cultures and Histories Pathway\nMA Fashion Storytelling: Fashion Cultures and Histories takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of fashion as a key marker of social and cultural change, and a means of understanding the relationship between individuals and communities. On this pathway, you will develop advanced writing, research and analytical skills, preparing you to become an informed storyteller, critic and communicator, able to generate new knowledge about fashion and shape how it is understood across different context. \n\nA unique Master’s degree situated in a dedicated London fashion college, the course grounds you in innovative and critical approaches to fashion histories, cultures and storytelling. The course is committed to embedding UAL’s Principles for Climate, Social and Racial Justice. Taught principally by London College of Fashion’s Cultural and Historical Studies Department alongside curators and researchers from the V&A, you will join a distinctive research community at the forefront of fashion studies. \n\nThis course responds to shifting dynamics within the fashion industry and cultural sector, and to the increasing need for storytellers, critical thinkers and cultural leaders, who can question how fashion stories are constructed, communicated and authorised. You will learn to analyse fashion narratives in scholarship, museums, media and public culture, and to develop your own research through writing, critical interpretation and narrative enquiry. The pathway is theory-led with a focus on research in action: using critical and historical methods to engage live debates, professional contexts and public-facing forms of communication. Through the course, you will develop the ability to work across cultural difference with reflexivity and care, and to communicate fashion knowledge for specialist and general audiences.\n\nIn providing the tools for constructing rigorous and compelling narratives about fashion, the course prepares you for future-facing careers in research, publishing, education, museums, archives, galleries, think tanks, cultural institutes, and the wider fashion and culture industries, as well as for further study in a fashion-related subject.
